'WHAT'S THIS MESS?!'

Coronation Street fans shock at awkward moment shamed Marc Anwar appears in latest episode

The actor has only just been fired from the show after a string of racist and abusive messages on his Twitter page

CORONATION STREET fans were left less than impressed when they were confronted with shamed actor Marc Anwar within seconds of the latest episode starting.

The 45-year-old Pakistan-born actor ??who first appeared on the cobbles as businessman Sharif Nazir in 2014 ??was혻fired from the show earlier this week after a Twitter tirade in which혻he described Indians as ?쐀******s??and ?쐏**s-drinking c***s??in a series of bigoted혻messages.

The star’s contract was immediately terminated by the ITV soap and the police are now launching an investigation into his comments.

A spokesperson for Corrie said at the time:혻?쏻e are shocked by the entirely unacceptable racially offensive comments made on Twitter by Marc Anwar.

?쏛s a consequence of his 짯comments, he will not be returning to Coronation Street with immediate effect.??/p>

However, following the comments, fans were left unamused by the first thing in this episode being the star on screen.

The scene, which was shot inside the family home, saw Sharif complain to his family about the mess in the living room as they got ready for the day ahead.

The defiant character혻is seen yelling: “Look at this mess!” as he tries to deflect the situation from his mistress making an appearance.

One wrote: “Not impressed by #corrie attempts to ‘minimise Marc Anwar’s screen time’ so far”

Another added: “It’s been on 7 minutes and sharif has been on for half of that. Well done for minimising his screen time”

To add insult to injury, the first of Monday’s two episodes was혻highly focused혻to the storyline of Sharif getting blackmailed by his granddaughter.

In other scenes, Sharif talked business with Dev Alahan – played by Jimmy Harkishin – an Indian character on the show.

Viewers marked how awkward the moment was after Sharif specifically targeted that heritage during his rant.

An upset viewer wrote: “It’s sad Anwar the racist was working with Indian colleague. Like this scene right now. Dev and Sharif. #Corrie”

Another added: “Bit awkward Indian Dev having a meeting with Pakistani Sharif.”

Following the booting,혻writers have been sent into crisis mode over their upcoming Christmas episodes in a bid to write the star out.
